Are You a Proud AmeriCorps Grad? Celebrate with Us!

June 6, 2016

400x400AmeriGrad2016Today’s guest blog is written by the AmeriCorps Alums Co-Executive Directors Mary Bruce and Ben Duda.

#AmeriGrad is finally here! Starting this week, and for the whole month of June, join us for #AmeriGrad and celebrate the lives of service that began with AmeriCorps! Each June, in partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service, AmeriCorps programs across the country, and alums in every state, we celebrate #AmeriGrad with the goal of celebrating all AmeriCorps graduates and connecting them to one another and to career support from Alums.

There are 3 easy ways to get involved.

  1. Post Online Using #AmeriGrad & Win a Prize! Are you proud of your AmeriCorps service & love the AmeriCorps Alums network? We sure are, but unfortunately, many alums don’t know about our network & resources. Help us expand our community by posting about AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps Alums using #AmeriGrad. Last year, with your help, #AmeriGrad generated over 2 million impressions on Twitter. So we know we have some proud alums!

Enter to win a prize by either (1) posting with #AmeriGrad on Twitter or Instagram, clicking your post on this page to claim it and filling out a short entry form, or (2) directly uploading pictures/video to our #AmeriGrad Hall of Fame page: www.americorpsalums.org/AmeriGradHallofFame.

When you use #AmeriGrad on Twitter or Instagram and claim your posts on the “Hall of Fame” page or upload pictures to “that page,” you’ll be eligible to win one hour of free coaching with the Alums’ Career Coach. Get more details and official contest rules here.

  2. Attend an #AmeriGrad Event. We kicked off the start of #AmeriGrad month with our first-ever national online speed networking event on June 1st, and alumni socials from our North Texas and Boston chapters. Alumni from the networking event shared, “It felt comfortable talking to people one-on-one, and learning about their past or current AmeriCorps experience,” and “I met 2-3 solid contacts”!

But, don’t worry if you missed our first events, there are more to come. Browse our full events calendar (updated weekly) to see other in-person and online gatherings hosted by our chapters and partners including a career happiness webinar on June 9, a picnic and awards ceremony in Connecticut, and a career fair in Chicago.

Want to connect with Alums in person? Join us in Detroit at the Points of Light Conference on Volunteering and Service, June 27-29. Check out this blog to view all the Alums sessions and a link to register for the conference.

    3. Share Information about AmeriCorps Alums. Being connected to the Alums network opens doors to exclusive trainings and benefits designed with you and social changemakers in mind. (It also makes you eligible to hang this cool Ameri-diploma on your wall — download yours today and post online using #AmeriGrad).

Are your friends and colleagues connected to us? Invite them to register with us! Click here for our new one-page “About Alums” flyer and here to tweet about joining Alums.

We’re excited to celebrate you, AmeriCorps, and the AmeriCorps Alums community all month long through #AmeriGrad. Join us by taking one of these three actions today.
