Deloitte Works with AmeriCorps Alums to Support AmeriCorps Alumni Careers
As the newest AmeriCorps members were sworn in on the launch of AmeriCorps Opening Day in a nationwide swearing in ceremony on October 16, 2015, Deloitte LLP and AmeriCorps Alums celebrated newly graduated AmeriCorps alumni by hosting a Virtual Resume Review.
AmeriCorps Alums’ Virtual Resume Review paired AmeriCorps alumni from across the country with consultants from Deloitte’s Atlanta, GA office. Each reviewer gave feedback on the 21st century skills employers look for and how to translate national service experience onto a resume in addition to offering general best practices and tips for resumes.
“Each time we welcome new AmeriCorps members to the national service community, we’re thinking towards the future,” says AmeriCorps Alums Co-Executive Director Ben Duda. “What resources will we have waiting for them when we welcome them as Alums? The AmeriCorps Opening Day launch was an ideal moment to think about the impact these AmeriCorps members will have, but also how much greater an impact they could have as alumni if we better support their professional development. Our work with Deloitte is a unique opportunity to cultivate a talent pipeline of civic leaders who have already invested their time and talent in the communities where they are needed the most.”
Each month, AmeriCorps Alums career development resources reach more than 100,000 AmeriCorps alumni. The AmeriCorps Alums team encourages all AmeriCorps alumni to join in for the next career support event, a Virtual Career Fair on November 5, 1-4 p.m. EST. In addition to special events like this month’s fair, Alums’ members also receive a monthly career newsletter that highlights higher education opportunities, employers with open roles seeking alumni applicants, and upcoming professional development trainings and events. In addition, AmeriCorps alumni have access to a career center, career coach, and online trainings at no cost.
