AmeriCorps Alums is excited to be attending and hosting sessions at this year’s Conference on Volunteering and Service, which will be held in Washington, D.C. from June 19– 21, 2013. We hope that you will join AmeriCorps Alums live at the Conference and on social media using #NCVSACAlums as we rally awareness and celebrate around a community dedicated to national service.

Still deciding if you should go? (Hint: YES, you should!) Well, we’re excited to announce that Points of Light is offering AmeriCorps Alums in the DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia area a $50 discount on the one-day rate for the Conference.

Join AmeriCorps Alums and other national service alumni at the world’s largest convening on volunteer service.

To take advantage of the special one day rate discount, please register with the following instructions:

  1. Go to the registration website and click the “Register Now” button to get started. Once you begin, you must fully complete the process. The information will only be saved when you complete registration and receive an email confirmation.
  2. Enter your last name and email address. Then select “One Day Rate – Wednesday,” “One Day Rate – Thursday,” OR “One Day Rate – Friday,” from the registration category drop-down menu and select the subcategory that best describes you. We suggest Thursday because of the many Alums activities, including the Alums Town Hall – click here to learn more.
  3. Complete all of the required fields. Make a note of your login information.
  4. On the payment page, click that link that says “Click here if you have a coupon to apply” and enter your coupon code: ACALUMSDAY
  5. Your registration summary will appear on your confirmation page and a confirmation email will be sent to the address you provided during the registration process.
  6. Please register by June 18, 2013.

If you can’t make it to Conference, AmeriCorps Alums will also be hosting FREE, with RSVP, offsite and evening gatherings open to current AmeriCorps members and AmeriCorps alumni in the nearby areas. Please join us for the following:

AmeriCorps Alums, in partnership with ServiceNation and the National Peace Corps Association, is hosting Stand for Service DC. Join us on Capitol Hill as we ask every national service supporter in DMV area to Stand for Service. Together, we will showcase the broad and diverse support national service enjoys in the country as a whole and we’ll highlight the enormous value it provides to local communities all across our nation.

To kick off 2013 Conference on Volunteering and Service, AmeriCorps Alums invites Conference attendees and Baltimore/Washington DC area alums to a welcome gathering, with lite appetizers and a cash bar. This will be a great opportunity to hear from AmeriCorps Alums Executive Director, the National Advisory Council Chair and Chapter Leaders from DMV and across the country.  Come connect with service alumni from across multiple programs and locations, and perhaps even surprise special guests!

AmeriCorps Alums is hosting an off-site gathering at the one-of-kind “philanthropub” CauseDC, founded by AmeriCorps Alum and RPCV Nick Vilelle.  The event will also serve as a continuation of Thursday’s Service Café – co-convened with the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps*VISTA – and is an opportunity for Alums to explore DC culture as they learn more about the nationally renowned CauseDC. Active AmeriCorps members, AmeriCorps Alums and Returned Peace Corps Volunteers in the DMV area invited to attend.
