What Are YOU Doing For Others?

January 21, 2013

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
AmeriCorps Alums have historically commemorated today as a “Day ON” for service and we want to know what you’ll be doing for others in your local community. Whether you’re helping to landscape a community garden, repaint the classroom walls of an elementary school, pack kits for veterans, etc., we want to know how you’re living out your Lifetime of Service this MLK Day.

Let us know in the comments below, share on Facebook, or send us a tweet on Twitter with the hashtag #2013MLKDay.

My organization volunteered with A Safe Place, a shelter for survivors of domestic violence. It was such a fulfilling day. We cleaned and decorated transitional apartments for families to move into. I loved thinking about the kids in a family walking into their new room and seeing bunk beds, new toys, school supplies, and a safe place to live!
