Honor Dr. King’s Legacy

January 14, 2011

Many of our chapters are planning and leading very exciting hands on service projects for MLK Day of Service 2011. Want to participate? View our MLK Day grantees here and join their efforts or find a project in your neighborhood here.

Have to work on Monday? On the eve of MLK Day, Sunday, January 16, 2011, national civic leaders, sports heroes and other celebrities will host America’s Sunday Supper at the Newseum in Washington D.C.

This high-profile discussion will focus on how everyone can realize the “beloved community” using service as a solution to address current issues such as hunger, poverty, homelessness, health, violence (such as bullying) and education. This discussion will remind us that, regardless of age, background, or socio-economic standing, we all have something important to give to our communities and nation!

You can also host your own Sunday Supper in honor of Dr. King! It’s easy and impactful… read about how to make that happen here!

However you choose to spend MLK Day, we hope that you will remember and reflect on the service you have participated in and shared with others. Together we are the change we want to see in the world!
