Chapter Shout Outs: Quad Cities (IA, IL)
by: Anne Sullivan, Quad Cities Chapter Leader

The Quad Cities AmeriCorps Alums Chapter is kicking off its second year and building upon the momentum of last year, we are engaging a growing team of enthusiastic alums. Our arts enriched community allows local alumni and members to experience a strong creative energy for projects and service days. By partnering with local school districts and non-profit organizations AmeriCorps Alums Quad Cities has enhanced our recognition throughout the community.

Just recently we were excited to learn we had received an AmeriCorps Alums grantto support our second annual MLK Jr. Day project titled, “Let Freedom Ring: Rhythm, Soul and the Dream.” This is the only youth-specific MLK Jr. Day event in the Quad Cities and it will take place at a local nonprofit, the River Music Experience where the chapter will have activities designed to empower youth in a variety of ways related to civic engagement. We are looking forward to another great year of civic engagement and building our Chapter… you can even connect with us on Facebook!
