Meet Our Award Winners

October 22, 2010

AmeriCorps Alums would like to formally announce and congratulate our 2010 Eli J. Segal Award Winners…

Arianne McGinnis & Elliot McGann of Hope Grows Farm!

Hope Grows, located in Sylvania, GA, is a new farm committed to growing what’s good for the community: farmers and food with integrity. “Our integrity is grounded deeply in the land and in relationships.”

Arianne and Elliot are saving lives through healthy and organic food practices that are being adopted by the community-at-large. This endeavor has real vision, is already having a significant impact and 5k from the Segal Award will be used to purchase much needed equipment to help them operate more efficiently.

AmeriCorps Alums would also like to recognize our First Runner-Up, Sarita Hartz of The Zion Project and Second Runner-Up, Sabrina Hilton of Green Beings Urban Farm. Both of these alumni-led organizations are doing great things, please check them out!

Again, many congratulations to Arianne and Elliot as well as Sarita and Sabrina. You are truly what a Lifetime of Service is all about… Eli Segal would be very proud.

This is incredible, inspiring work. Actually, it was phenomenal to read the applications. So uplifting to see that alums are still giving back, and in big ways!
