President Obama will throw out first pitch at MLB All-Star Game in support of United We Serve!

The Corporation for National and Community Service has been working closely with Major League Baseball to promote service and the Administration’s United We Serve initiative at tonight’s All-Star Game. As you can see from this press release, MLB has made this the central focus of tonight’s game. Tonight alone tens of millions of people will be encouraged to go to “Serve.gov”. Here are some things to watch for on FOX tonight, and if you miss it, visit Serve.gov later to see a new video of all the living Presidents talking about service.

  • Just prior to first pitch: Video featuring all living Presidents airs and concludes with President Obama directing people to serve.gov
  • 8pm (likely closer to 8:20): President Obama throws out the first pitch
  • Bottom of the 2nd inning: President Obama expected to go into the FOX broadcast booth.

In addition, there will be several announcements about United We Serve and displays of the United We Serve and Corporation logos during the game, but these will not be visible on television.

This is hopefully just the beginning of an amazing collaboration with MLB…  Batter up!
